A great way to teach your nieces and nephews about your family is through a family tree.  Creating a family tree can be artistic and somewhat educational (well especially about your side of the family.)

Once you have the family members organized, the nieces and nephews can draw the tree and its branches. Or, depending on their age, they can color in the outline you have drawn for them.

If you have photos of the family members, use those.  Make photocopies of the vintage photos. If you know anything about the earlier family members, create a quote under their name: “Great, Great, Great Aunt Louisa arrived from Spain on a ship.” If one of your nieces or nephews is named for a relative, you may want to highlight that as well.
